1812 Royal Naval Uniform
The jacket for this costume was based off an authentic naval coat currently being held in the National Maritime Museum archives and the breeches were inspired by Admiral Nelson’s pair which he died in during the battle of Trafalgar. The outfit took 8 weeks to make and consists of over 40 buttons and 11 metres of metal naval lace. The coat is made from wool, lined with cotton sateen and embellished with metal naval lace. The shirt is white cotton and breeches are from cream wool and lined with linen.
